For most businesses, there are a variety of requirements for information. Senior managers need information to help with their business planning. Middle management need more detailed information to help them monitor and control business activities. Employees with operational roles need information to help them carry out their duties.

1. computer-based information system - information system that uses computer technology to perform some or all of its intended tasks.

• provide fast , accurate communication and collaboration
• store huge amount of information in a small , easy-to-access space

     2. Application systems - computer program design to support a specific task or business   process

     3. Breadth of support of IS - 1) enterprise resources planning systems and

                                              2) transaction processing   systems 

     4. support for organizational employees - office automation systems, business intelligence systems,  dashboard.
